How to use Green Cardamom?

Green Cardamom is a spice with an intense, slightly sweet flavor that some people compare it with mint. It can be used in any food.

Hereby a sample dessert recipe:

  • 1 liter of milk
  • 1/4 cup of rice
  • 4 cardamom
  • 1/4 cup of sugar
  • 1/4 cup of dried fruits

Take the milk and boil it. Crush and open the cardamom. Add the rice, cardamom and sugar to the pot and cook. When the mixture is cooked, add the dried fruits. Let it cool completely before serving.

This is called Kheer in India. One of the healthiest sweet dishes that is rich in nutrition and taste.

Guatemala is the largest green cardamom production country in the World. India is the second largest production country of green cardamom. Kerala and Tamil Nadu are the main producing regions of green cardamom in India.
Harvest

When is Green Cardamom grown?

Green cardamom is planted in the rainy season from June. Irrigation is carried out during summer and dry season to get a healthy production. Harvesting starts after two years of planting.
